What led me to discover MBTI?
My memory of May 17th, 2018, comes back to me like it was yesterday. It was a hot summer day. At the time, I was a sophomore back in college. As you can imagine, I would hang out with my friends during the summer like any college girl. On that day, my friends and I decided to go to the mall and do some shopping.
After doing our shopping, we took a break. My journey to discovering MBTI began from this point forward. An older man approached my friends and me. Interestingly enough, he was the owner of a nearby coffee shop that was promoting its services. Because of this, he invited us to his coffee shop after promoting his business.
After that, I found myself at the coffee shop trying to get coffee for my friends since they didn't want to go with me. Upon entering, the owner greets me with a huge smile and says, "I am glad you are here." The owner then asks me where I'm from and what I do as well. As I answered those questions, he stops me and says the guy over there who is sleeping is also from El Salvador. I was like, okay, that is very cool. As I finish ordering all the coffee for my friends, the owner introduces me to the manager of the coffee shop. Who knew that the manager of the coffee shop ended up being the same guy that the owner told me was from El Salvador as well.
The next thing I know, I'm sitting across from the coffee shop manager. He introduces himself and says his name is Melvin. In addition, I introduce myself to him. As we talk, I discover we have a lot in common. Having sat with someone very similar to me, I thought he and I could be good friends. We parted ways after that, and I never expected to see him again. It wasn't until the next day that my friend mentioned Melvin to me, who I had forgotten about, but once he was mentioned, I thought about seeing him again.
In the end, my friend and I decided to visit Melvin at the coffee shop. As we entered the coffee shop, I was greeted by Melvin. He asked what we were doing here. We told him we were there for coffee, but in reality, I was there only to get to know Melvin better. Then Melvin recommended that I take the MBTI personality test because he wanted to know what personality type I was. Despite thinking, I was ENFJ, he still wanted to be sure. After this, we exchanged phone numbers since we were curious about each other.
To conclude, I realized the importance of MBTI the more I learned about it. As a result, I was able to better understand myself and how I processed information around me. As well as helping me understand myself, it also helped me to understand others. Thanks to Melvin, I have a deeper understanding of myself, and now I have also a deeper understanding of Melvin and how he processes information. I am now passionate about sharing my knowledge about MBTI with those around me in order to help them gain a deeper understanding of themselves. In addition, Melvin and I have continued to be friends over MBTI ever since then.
